House Majority PAC Launches Multimedia Campaign Targeting Republicans For Shutting Down The Government, Playing Games With The Economy

October 3, 2013

Washington, D.C. – House Majority PAC announced today that it would begin running a multimedia campaign – including search, Facebook and television advertising – calling out all nine of the organization’s Republican targets for causing a government shutdown and playing reckless games with the economy.

The Google and Bing search advertising campaign will focus on the following GOP targets: Gary Miller (CA-31), Mike Coffman (CO-06), Rodney Davis (IL-13), Mike Fitzpatrick (PA-08), Michael Grimm (NY-11), Joe Heck (NV-03), David Joyce (OH-14), John Kline (MN-02) and Steve Southerland (FL-02). The ads will ensure that as voters are searching for information about their respective member’s role in causing the Republican government shutdown, they’ll be able to learn more and register their disapproval through target-specific websites and petitions, such as www.TellJohnKline.com or www.TellSteveSoutherland.com.

Additionally, House Majority PAC will begin this week running television and web ads in CO-06, FL-02, NV-03 and OH-14, holding GOP Reps. Coffman, Heck, Joyce and Southerland accountable for voting again and again to shut down the federal government.

CO-06 – “Games” calls attention to Rep. Mike Coffman’s economic hostage-taking and his role in a causing a shutdown of the federal government. “Games” is an online ad targeted at interested parties in the Denver suburbs that make up CO-06.

FL-02 – “Game” hits Rep. Steve Southerland for helping cause a government shutdown during which he will continue to be paid, despite Southerland’s jaw-dropping comment that his yearly $174,000 taxpayer-funded salary is “not so much.” “Game” will run on broadcast television in Tallahassee.

NV-03 – “Dangerous Game” makes clear what a reckless game Rep. Joe Heck is playing with our economy, siding with national Republican leaders – not southern Nevadans – in backing a government shutdown. “Dangerous Game” will run on broadcast television in Las Vegas.

OH-14 – “Tantrum” is a light-hearted look at a deadly serious issue: Rep. Dave Joyce’s Tea Party-inspired, my-way-or-the-highway temper tantrum that helped cause a government shutdown. “Tantrum” will run on broadcast television in Cleveland.

“This harmful and unnecessary government shutdown is a result of House Republicans’ complete embrace of the extremist, Tea Party mentality and their abject failure to pursue a reasonable course that would have prevented a shutdown and the economic damage it’s wreaking all across the country,” said Andy Stone, Communications Director for House Majority PAC. “Voters deserve to know about their members’ role in the Republican government shutdown and their willingness to play reckless and dangerous games with our nation’s economy.”
